Scheduled Portable Equipment
Laptops, tablets, phones, cameras, tools, musical instruments and professional equipment listed on the schedule by description, serial number and value.
Accidental Loss & Damage
Sudden and unforeseen physical loss of or damage to scheduled items from accidental causes such as drops, spillages, crushing and impact, unless the policy excludes it specifically.
Theft from Vehicles & Hotel Rooms
Theft of scheduled items left in unattended vehicles, hotel rooms or temporary accommodation, subject to evidence of forced entry or a police report and the policy conditions.
World-Wide Cover
Protection follows your scheduled items wherever they travel, so a laptop dropped in Mombasa, a camera stolen in Kampala or a phone lost abroad is handled under the same policy.
Cameras & Creative Gear
Bodies, lenses, lighting, drones and sound equipment used on location and in studios, where normal property policies rarely follow the gear out of the building.
Tools & Professional Equipment
Hand and power tools, test instruments and trade kits carried between sites by contractors, technicians and field staff who work far from any locked store room.
Why All Risk Insurance Matters
Property Policies Stop at the Door
Most fire and burglary policies protect items at the declared address. The moment a laptop leaves the office or a camera goes on location, standard cover often does not follow it.
Mobile Equipment Is Expensive
A full photography kit, an engineering test kit or a sales team's laptops can be worth several million shillings. Losing them in one incident is a serious cash flow event.
Accidents Are More Likely Than Theft
Dropped laptops, spilled drinks, a phone knocked from a matatu seat. Everyday accidents cause far more equipment losses than dramatic thefts ever will.
Professional Work Cannot Pause
If your only camera or your only laptop is damaged mid-project, the job stops. Replacement cover gets you working again while the claim is being assessed.
Serial Numbers Make Claims Clear
Items scheduled with serial numbers and purchase values leave no argument about what was lost or what it was worth. That clarity is what keeps claims moving quickly.
Old Items Depreciate
Five-year-old equipment is not worth what you paid for it. Insurers settle on replacement or indemnity values, so keeping the schedule current avoids surprises at claim time.
How It Works
List Every Item
We build a schedule of your equipment showing description, make, serial number, purchase date and value for each item you want protected.
Set Cover & Territory
You choose the total sum insured, whether world-wide cover applies, and any limits for items used away from the premises or left in vehicles.
Cover in Force
The policy runs for twelve months. Add new items as you buy them with a quick endorsement so nothing sits uninsured between one renewal and the next.
Lodge a Claim
Report loss or theft immediately, obtain a police report where required, and submit the schedule entry, purchase invoice, photographs and any repair estimate.
Types of All Risk Cover
Pick the structure that fits your equipment, whether it is a whole team's toolkit or a handful of high-value personal items.

A focused policy for a small number of high-value items rather than a whole fleet of equipment, ideal for a single camera kit, instrument or specialist device.

- Accidental damage included as standard
- Optional drop and spill extension
- Simple schedule, simple renewal
Who Is This For
Professionals & Consultants
Lawyers, accountants, architects and consultants carrying laptops and documents between offices, courts and client sites need cover that travels with them.
Contractors & Technicians
Trade teams working across multiple sites carry power tools and instruments worth a fortune in aggregate. All risk cover protects the kit wherever the job is.
Photographers & Creatives
Cameras, lenses, drones, lighting and audio gear are valuable, portable and constantly in transit. Creative businesses are classic candidates for all risk cover.
Businesses with Mobile Teams
Sales reps, field officers and service staff issued with company phones and laptops can be covered under one schedule, including equipment used away from the office.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Leaving items off the schedule
If it is not listed with a serial number and value, it is not covered. Buying new equipment and forgetting to add it means the loss falls on you personally.
Insuring at old purchase price
A laptop bought for KES 150,000 three years ago is not worth that today. Insurers settle on current replacement or indemnity values, so over-stating values does not inflate the payout.
Assuming accidental damage is automatic
Many policies exclude wear and tear, gradual damage and mechanical breakdown. Confirm that sudden accidental damage is genuinely included before you rely on it.
Skipping the police report
Theft claims almost always require a police abstract or OB report, and vehicle break-ins often need evidence of forced entry. Delay reporting and the claim becomes difficult to prove.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does all risk actually mean?
It covers every cause of loss or damage except the exclusions written in the policy. The burden works the other way round from named-peril cover: instead of you proving the cause was insured, the insurer must show the loss came from an exclusion.
Are my items covered outside Kenya?
World-wide cover is available for scheduled portable items, often with a territorial limit such as 90 or 180 days outside the country per trip. Tell us your travel patterns and we will set the territory correctly.
Do I need serial numbers for every item?
For electronics and equipment, yes. Serial numbers, makes and purchase values make identification and settlement straightforward. Where an item has no serial number, a photograph and description take its place.
Is theft from an unattended car covered?
Often yes, subject to conditions such as evidence of forced entry into the vehicle, items being out of sight, and a prompt police report. Leaving a laptop visible on a car seat with no break-in is frequently excluded.
How are claims valued for older items?
Settlement is usually on an indemnity or replacement basis, taking account of depreciation. An item five years old is not paid out at its original invoice price, which is why schedules and values should be reviewed at renewal.
Can I add items during the policy year?
Yes, most insurers allow new items to be added by endorsement, sometimes automatically within a short window after purchase. Never assume a fresh purchase is covered the day after you walk out of the shop.
Does this cover jewellery and watches?
Jewellery and watches can be scheduled under a personal all risk policy, usually with sub-limits for single items and for theft away from the home. High-value pieces may need a valuation certificate.
What is not covered?
Typical exclusions include wear and tear, gradual damage, mechanical breakdown, cosmetic damage that does not affect function, unattended items in public places against the conditions, and loss arising from unexplained disappearance.
Real Talk
Your office insurance covers the office. The moment your laptop leaves it, your camera goes on a shoot or your tools get loaded into a pickup, that protection quietly stops at the gate.
All risk cover is not paranoia, it is arithmetic. One stolen camera bag or one dropped laptop costs more than years of premium, and the work stops until it is replaced.
If you carry it, schedule it.
